Trust the magic of new beginnings - Double page layout

Hi,

Today I have a fun double page layout to share with you. Using Sir Vagabond in fantasy world from Stamperia as my focal point. I’ve been playing in my stone paper journal trying out a few new distress oxide sprays and stain sprays that I just bough and just having a lot of fun enjoying my “me - time “.

The colors I used for my background are Tim Holtz Distress oxide spray old paper and speckled eggs in oxide and vintage photo in distress stain spray. I also went around the edges with vintage photo ink pad with a blending tool and again with black sooth but this time only at the very edge.
I felt so lucky finding the stamp I used to stamp randomly on my background in the outlet section called Not kollage-K from Inkido. I love the script and that the post stamp circle has Oslo-Norway written on it. I grew up there and my family lives there so it’s just one of these little details that makes me happy. Next I mixed Finnabair Art basic 3D gloss gel and a thicker black acrylic paint together using it over a stencil from Stamperias Create happiness line. I love the effect of the 3D clear gloss on the more muted oxide sprays background. The bigger contrast really gives an interesting look.

All the pieces used in this layout are from the fantasy world 8*8 papers. I fuzzy cut and went around all the edges with black soot and a finger dabbed to only have black edges on my pieces. I used Ranger Multimedia mat to glue everything down and carefully went just over the images. The glue will react with the oxide sprays if you get it on your  background.

I used the saying “Just Trust the magic of new beginnings” as my sentiment this time because l believe that sometimes you just have to trust the process.  For my finishing touches I traced around every image and some parts of the images where I wanted to add more detail with a black pen. I also added some highlights with my Sakura white gel pen. Make sure your glue is completely dry before you do this step or the glue will ruin your pens and/or markers.

I hope you liked this art journal layout and that you got inspired to create yourself a happy day crafting too. I sure love my creative moments.

No rain - no flowers

 Hi,

I`ve been enjoying myself with some Copic coloring again, and this time I colored up sweet Marci with an umbrella from La la land crafts. I`m eagerly waiting for spring to arrive, so I chose to color her up in fun bright colors.

My card is 6*6 inches and on the front of my card I scored around the edges 1/8 inch in from the inside of my card. That way you get your score line indent out on your card front. The sky pattern paper that I used is a leftover piece from the Ciao Bella summer breeze paper pad. I lightly went around the edges with Distress ink in blue jeans before I backed it with a medium bright blue cardstock. I used the two biggest circles in the Spellbinders nestabilities Triple Tear S4-490 that is a favourite at the moment adding foam dots for dimention. I also backed Marci up on foam dots to make her stand out even more.

I was so happy with how Marci turned out and the colors I used are:

Face: E000-00-04-11-21

Hair: E15-18-95-97

Outfit: B21-24-28-29

Umbrella: Y11-13-15

               YR00-12-15

               R20-22-24

               G00-02

               B21-24

               T1-3

This stamp is from an old club kit that also comes with some dies and sentiments to go with. I ran a raindrop border die through my machine and placed most of the raindrops back in place, securing them with a tape in order to use it as a tiny stencil. I decided to only go with a few drops and placed my DIY stencil just under the umbrella using a small spatula with the jummy Ranger distress Stickles in moon dust to add some sparkly raindrops. The "enjoy life" sentiment is from the same kit.                              To finish off my card I added some clear enamel drops from Simple and Basic, and I love how the fit the theme as they kind of look like little water drops.

I love how this card turned out and hope you like it too.

Happy easter card

 Hi friends,

Today I`m back with a quick post to show you another easter card I made. I`m trying to stop hoarding and use up most of the beautiful easter papers I have left from the beautiful "Sagan om våren" collection from Pion design. Pion design was probably my favorite brand regarding patteren papers for cards. Back then all my cards had a Copic colored image and I love the softness and the colors of this brands paper. So sad they no longer exist to create their beautiful paper collections for us.

This card is 5.5*5.5 inches, a card size I like to create once in a while. The pattern papers are as mention above from an older collection from Pion design. I used Spellbinder nestabilities Triple tear (S4-490) to cut out the bunny and I also cut it out in dark brown and off set it to add some interest and to make the focal point pop more from the background. I used Distress ink in Gathered twigs around the edge of the die cut to frame it more. I added a lace and borders from the same collection and popped both the panel and the frame up on foam dots for added dimension.

I added some spring flowers around the frame, and some flat back pearls to the corners to finish off the card.

Easter card - Tilda with bunny

 Hi,

I`ve had a couple of stamped easter images ready for coloring in my Copic suitcase literally for years. And today was the day I finally got around to sit down and enjoy myself coloring up this very old but cute and loved Tilda stamp from Magnolia. I also went stash diving on the papers, ending up with some lovely papers from Pion design that sadly are closed down. There are so many cute stamps to color up and tons of pretty paper so I hope this still can inspire you to get out your coloring medium and play around and create something beautiful, or just enjoy the process of coloring.

I inked up all the edges of my papers with Distress ink in Vintage photo, going in a bit more heavy around my colored image. I used a circle die that I only cut partially around my image before fussy cutting the rest around her hat. I placed her on a napkin and popped herup on foam tape. I also used foam dots to add dimension on my panels. I used a lace and a strip from the same paper collection to add some interest under my image. Then I glued on some skeleton leaves in green, added some rolled flowers and a little wooden bunny from Wycinanka. The cute little yellow duck is a button from Buttons galore Spring pack that I got as a gift in my latest order from Bikuben so I thought it was fun to include that on my card.

Today I wanted to challenge myself and try a different approach when coloring my image. I started putting down a thin base layer with my lightest color in my color blend. Then moving on to my darkest mid tone or the darkest color in my color blend and then work my way down again. Going back to deepen my shadows and smoothing my blending with a second coat. Usually, I color dark to light, mapping out my shadows with my lightest or a lighter mid tone color before going with my darkest marker coloring dark to light. When coloring hair, I often go with my second darkest marker first since I can be a bit heavy with my darker strokes. This gives the darker hair color version of the color blend. And that`s totally fine, except when I want to enhance the lighter colors and only keep my darker markers for the deepest shades.

I`m playing along with Simon Says Stamp challenges this week, and the theme is a bit of green, so I colored accordingly. Colorful option also has green as a theme.

Copic colores used:

Skin: E000-00-04-11-21, R20

Hair: E43-50-53-57

Outfit: G000-21-24-28 and B91-93-95-97

Shine - art journal layout

Hi everyone,

I`ve  had so much fun creating this double page art journal layout where I`m combining two of my favourite things, Copic coloring and art journaling. I totally fell in love with the fantasy moon digistamp from Polkadoodles and if you like to grab yourself a copy it`s on great sale right now.

I`m working in my A5 mixed media stone paper journal from Stamperia. I started out with distress acrylic paint in tumbled glass, stormy sky, blueprint sketch and vilted violet. The paint is applied directly on the paper then using horizontal strokes with a dry brush to randomly distribute the paint leaving streaks in the different colors visible. To darken the overall look and feel, and also to frame my layout I used black paint that I applied with a sponge dabber dabbing around the edges on my page.

For my focal point printed out the digistamp in the desired size twice to get enough flowers and leaves for both pages. Then I started coloring the moon and worked on getting some visual texture. I both sprinkled colorless blender on it and dotting the colors in the shaded areas making sure not to over do it as I didn`t want the moon to be too dotted looking. Next, I colored all the flowers and leaves also on the second page before fussy cutting everything. When I have lots of little details to cut I just take my time and enjoy the process doing the best I can. It really doesn`t matter for your end result if you leave out some small parts.

Copic colors I used:

Moon: Y00-10-13-15, YR000-00, Colorless blender refill drops

Flowers: RV10-63-66-69

             V15-17, BV02

             R20-22-35-37

             B24-60-63 (Y10?)

Flower center: E09, Y13-15-17

Leaves: BG72-73-93

            G21-43-46-94

            G21-94, YG17

Shadows: T7

To add some sparkle and more interest on my page I applied Distress stickles with a spatula on random parts of the stars starry night stencil from Memory box. I just love this glitter stickles. In real life, it has this clear sparckly finish that adds the perfect amount of sparkle. Not too much. It depends on how the light catches it and on some of the photos it looks way more silver than it actually is.

For my sentiment "Just like the moon, you don`t have to be whole to shine" I printed out strips on my laptop and the words moon and shine are cut out using an older Tim Holtz bigz die called block talk lowercase from Sizzix. I really like this saying. It`s something well worth remembering.

I added some highlights with my Sakura white gel pen and also doodled in some elements with my black Pilot G TEC C4 pen. This is my favorite doodling pen.

Masculine Valentines card

 Hi,

Today is finally the day I can share some exciting news! I am a guest designer at The Male Room Challenge, and this month`s theme is valentine/ use a heart.

I really enjoy playing along on The Male Room as this challenges me to make masculine cards. After all, I have three sons, and the challenge themes are fun to play along with. You should head on over and play along too. Lots of great inspiration from the DT as well as the other participants.

For this card I decided to make a 6*6 card base in a very light brown/beige color. I backed my patterned paper with a dark brown cardstock as to double frame the image. I went stash diving for this pattern paper and found this from the old Time Machine collection from Kaisercraft. I`m so happy with this, it gave the exact feel I was going for with this card.

For my focal point I used heart strings embossing folder from Elisabeth craft that I`ve had forever. But I`m sure you can find something similar. I just used this embossing folder on another card, and I love how totally different cards you can make with the same products. I cut out a scallop heart with the nesting dies from Xcut and used foam dots to pop it up. The sentiment is actually a part of the papers zip strip and I glued it on a strip of the other side of the pattern paper so it matches perfectly in color.

The metal leaves are from Prima and the light brown and brown dots are from Papirdesign. To grunge it up a little I punched holes and put in some eyelets in brass on each side of the sentiment. I love the saying:"The best things in life are the people we love". How true is that!

You can join the challenge here:

A fun and sweet Valentine`s card

 Hi,

It`s been way too long since I pulled out my beloved Copic markers. So today I`m excited to share this fun card with the adorable Little Darling stamp Valentine`s petals from Saturated Canary, all colored up with my Copic markers.

I double matted the colored image and the pattern paper on red and black cardstock. Then I glued it to a 6*6 card base in white. The heart pattern paper is something I`ve had for years, but there are tons of paper suitable for Valentine`s card so just find something you like.

Copic coloures I used:

  • Skin: YR000, E000-E00-E11-E21, R20-R22
  • Eyes: G00-YG17
  • Hair: C0-C1-C7-C9
  • Outfit: R35-R37-R59, RV99
  • Background: C0-C1-C3, O Blender

I cut out some hearts using scallop nesting hearts in black and red.
Then I added, "He loves me, he loves me not..." in strips on top of the hearts, and I think it`s perfect for this sentiment. I tied a heart charm on some May arts string and glued it on the top of my image. To play off on the sentiment I added a single Chrysanthemum flower.

Valentine card - emboss resist technique

 Hi,

Today I have played with emboss resist. This is such a fun technique and the result you get is so cool.

I think this background stamp from Penny Black is so pretty and it`s perfect for this technique. I stamped and heat embossed with Lindy`s white embossing powder. For my colours I used Distress ink in Tumbled glass, Peacock feathers, maybe a tad of Salty ocean and Vintage photo. I layed down the ink going diagonal. Then I lightly went over with a baby wipe to remove any excess ink on top of the embossed pattern. If you want to give the card a more feminine feel, you can just use different colors of ink.

Next I cut down my panel to size and I also cut out a heart before I used foam tape to glue down my panel to my A2 card base. This turns the cut out heart into a kind of window, and it also gave my card some dimension and interest.

I stamped the sentiment from an old club kit from La la land and the stitched banner is also from them. I glued on some flat back pearls from Papirdesign as my finishing touch.

I love how this card turned out, this sure is a fun technique.

I am resilient - art journal layout

 Hi,

Today I`m back with another art journal layout. I really do enjoy sitting down with some "me- time" and just letting creativity flow, playing around with colors, textures and fun techniques. Today I got my inspiration from the napkin that I used on this layout. The colors and the beautiful flowers are right up my ally. And I do love the black background even though I ended up tearing away most of it for this project. I actually got these napkin somewhere eating out, making sure not to spill so I could take it with me😂

I saw that Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge blog theme this week was texture and they were showcasing Tim Holz products. So I wanted to really challenge myself limiting myself to use mostly products from him. Why the challenge? Because I have like one old stamp set and a few stencils from him. But I just got my new distress paints that I`ve wanted for a while, and I also got the Opac Distress crackle paste. Lots of products I never tried before, so this was fun.

For my background, I used distress paint in Dried marigold, Ripe persimmon, Wild honey and Rusty hinge, applying the colors randomly with a dry flat brush. After drying this first layer, I applied a mix of wild honey and dried marigold with a sponge dabbing it over the Harlequin stencil from Tim Holtz to add some texture to my background. Next, I applied a thin layer of the Distress Opack crackle paste using the Clockwork stencil. I added some white splashes with acrylic paint and used a black marker to draw a black frame around the page.

Finally time to add my napkin flowers, leaving one layer of white as to not have the flowers disapeare on my painted background. I kind of wish I left all layers, but it turned out clear enough. I used clear gesso to glue my pieces down, also adding a coat on top of the flowers. The butterfly is from an old Stampers Anonymous Tim Holz stamp set that I`ve had forever called Fairytale Frenzy CMS 058. It`s the only stamp set I own from him today, but I really do love it.

Sorry for the bad lighting in this last photo. The colours are shown more accurate above.

For my sentiment I typed out the text on black strips on my printer, and the word resilient is stamped using a stamp set from Papirdesign. (PD2100365) The words strong, kind, loving, beautiful and hopeful are stickers from Tim Holtz Big chat. I run my finger over the edges of the word stickers lightly with some clear gesso on before I sprinkled SSS ultra fine embossing powder in Antique gold just to add something extra to them. I also added a bit of Finnabair true black glitter on some of the black areas around the flowers, but it was hard to catch on photo with my phone. I created this double page in my stone paper art journal from Stamperia.

I had so much fun creating this layout. It was kind of personal and I do love the way it turned out.

Heart Strings

 Hi,

Today I finally got around to take some pictures of the projects I`ve been working on lately, and I`m excited to share this white on white card with you. I love the clean and elegant look these cards have.

To add some texture I used an embossing folder with heart strings from Elizabeth crafts. I`ve had this in my stash forever, but I`m sure you can find something similar. To add some bling and interest to my card I framed my dry embossed panel with strips of Polar Bear cardstock from My Colors cardstock leaving a slight border. The Polar Bear cardstock has a beautiful sparkly finish. Next, I glued it on my A2 card base using foam squares to add some more dimension to the card.

I cut out a heart from black cardstock and these heart shaped stickers in greens and blues fit perfectly.
I had planned to add a Valentine -ish sentiment on this card, but I loved the clean look on this so I decided against it.

And here is another look.... I think this card looks clean and really cute and I`m so happy with the way it turned out.

Quick and fun birthday cards perfect for kids birthday party

Hi, and welcome back to my blog in 2024.

Today I have some quick and fun birthday cards to share that I made for my son to gift to some friends at school who celebrated their birthday together. I like to make the cards similar just playing around with colors and pattern papers when multiple kids celebrate together. These cards are quick to make, and you can easily replicate the idea using different shapes for your card base.

I used the biggest star from the nesting star set and cut out a star as my card front. For my card base, I scored and folded my cardstock leaving the tip of the star die outside my cutting plates on the folded edge so that the star shape is partially cut, making it a foldable shaped card. Then I glued the star ontop to get a whole star shaped card.

I kept the card design very basic since they probably will be thrown away right away - I mean that`s fine, they are 7/8 year old boys. But since my son is gifting money I just wanted to put it in something a little extra for him to hand out. The circle birthday sentiment is from Kort og Godt and is backed on some scalloped circles for added interest. On the blue cards, the sentiment is heat embossed in silver, and for the other pattern paper I used gold embossing powder from Simon Says Stamp.

Family and friends Christmas card with photo

 Hi,

This weekend I handed out and mailed this years last Christmas card batch to our family and friends. Usually I order our family Christmas cards from a photo-store since I like them to have pictures of the kids, the dog and/or all of us together showing a moment from this last year. But for this year I knew I wanted them to be handmade, and to have a picture of my youngest son. So when we got to take a trip up further north in Norway to Meråker I packed his knitted winter outfit and took picktures with the beautiful mountain natur in the back. You also get a glimpse of the fence called "skigard" which has a long tradition in Norway.

Since I wanted the photo to be the main star of the card, and also to match the natural feel of the photo I kept my design simple and the colors natural adding some glitter paper to dress it up for that Christmas feeling.

I just love how these turned out 🎄💖

I started off with a kraft card base and matching envelope set. This makes it so fast and easy to create multiple similar cards. To add some interest to the background I used a Sizzix embossing folder I`ve had forever, and I love this simple and versatile design.

I used the oval from La-La Land carft stitched element die set on my photo. I used the same die on gold glitter paper and on dark brown cardstock that I cut in half to keep the card light for postage, and also to save on glitter cardstock since it`s quite pricey. I offset my two background oval pieces to frame my photo and adding some bling and depth to my card. The pine twigs are also a die from La-la Land crafts and the pointsettias are the small Poinsettia layers from Memory Box. I added a big flatback pearl from Melissa Frances as my flower center.

Adding twigs, ribbon and twine, all set up for getting this year`s cards ready in time.

On the inside of the cards I stamped a Norwegian Christmas greeting and heat embossed it with Simon Says Stamp EMBOSSING POWDER ANTIQUE GOLD ultra fine. I love the gold color and the quality. The mitten is embossed with Midnight Emerald from Lindy`s. The stamps are from Papirdesign PD 1900155 Enhjørning julestempel. I did this step before I glued anything on the front of the card.

On a few cards like to family in USA, Germany and grandparents I added another photo on the inside of the cards. To match the red on the photo I used red embossing powder from Lindy`s instead on these cards.

Dressing up the envelopes where I can 😊

Wishing you a season full of light and laughter for you and your family.

Christmas ornament card

Hi friends,

Today I have a Christmas card to show you. It’s about time to start producing them if I want to get ready in time to ship out this years Christmas cards.

I have used Elliana Ornament from Memory box cut it out in sparkly red cardstock and a silver glitter sheet with holographic sparkles in it, slightly offsetting the layers  when glued on top of my Drop Ornament backdrop die in smooth solid red cardstock. I also cut out the ornament top in the same silver glitter paper and glued and added a silver ribbon as to hang my ornament on.

The pine sprigs are cut out of green cardstock. I also decided to cut out one from the silver glitter paper and snipped it into two pieces to pull in more Christmas bling to my card.

I framed the sides of the black panel with a thin strip from the same sparkly red cardstock. The white starry panels are embossed using Simon Says Stamp Rainbow Splash Embossing Folder Twinkling Stars, misting my paper slightly before running it through my Big Shot. I stamped and embossed my sentiment in silver embossing powder. Not perfectly stamped- again. Using textured cardstock sure doesn`t help. Maybe I really should push my wish for a stamping platform up on my Christmas list 😅

On the inside I stamped and embossed in silver a sweet Christmas text in norwegian from Kort og Godt   (M-232). Google translates it into someting like:
"Thou star over Bethlehem
send thy rays down
and remind us that the commandments
of Christmas
are love and peace"
The text is actually the 3. verse of a Christmas hymn from Sweden. In Norway a more loosely translated version of the song is most popular.
This is one of mye favorite songs around Christmas. Here is a link if you want to listen

Some red glitter sprinkles from Doodlebug and a red envelope, and my first Christmas card for this season is done.
