Masculine Valentines card

 Hi,

Today is finally the day I can share some exciting news! I am a guest designer at The Male Room Challenge, and this month`s theme is valentine/ use a heart.

I really enjoy playing along on The Male Room as this challenges me to make masculine cards. After all, I have three sons, and the challenge themes are fun to play along with. You should head on over and play along too. Lots of great inspiration from the DT as well as the other participants.

For this card I decided to make a 6*6 card base in a very light brown/beige color. I backed my patterned paper with a dark brown cardstock as to double frame the image. I went stash diving for this pattern paper and found this from the old Time Machine collection from Kaisercraft. I`m so happy with this, it gave the exact feel I was going for with this card.

For my focal point I used heart strings embossing folder from Elisabeth craft that I`ve had forever. But I`m sure you can find something similar. I just used this embossing folder on another card, and I love how totally different cards you can make with the same products. I cut out a scallop heart with the nesting dies from Xcut and used foam dots to pop it up. The sentiment is actually a part of the papers zip strip and I glued it on a strip of the other side of the pattern paper so it matches perfectly in color.

The metal leaves are from Prima and the light brown and brown dots are from Papirdesign. To grunge it up a little I punched holes and put in some eyelets in brass on each side of the sentiment. I love the saying:"The best things in life are the people we love". How true is that!

A fun and sweet Valentine`s card

 Hi,

It`s been way too long since I pulled out my beloved Copic markers. So today I`m excited to share this fun card with the adorable Little Darling stamp Valentine`s petals from Saturated Canary, all colored up with my Copic markers.

I double matted the colored image and the pattern paper on red and black cardstock. Then I glued it to a 6*6 card base in white. The heart pattern paper is something I`ve had for years, but there are tons of paper suitable for Valentine`s card so just find something you like.

Copic coloures I used:

  • Skin: YR000, E000-E00-E11-E21, R20-R22
  • Eyes: G00-YG17
  • Hair: C0-C1-C7-C9
  • Outfit: R35-R37-R59, RV99
  • Background: C0-C1-C3, O Blender

I cut out some hearts using scallop nesting hearts in black and red.
Then I added, "He loves me, he loves me not..." in strips on top of the hearts, and I think it`s perfect for this sentiment. I tied a heart charm on some May arts string and glued it on the top of my image. To play off on the sentiment I added a single Chrysanthemum flower.

Wohoo! I made TOP -3!

I think this card turned out so fun and cute, and I had lots of fun creating it.

I hope you like it, and that you got inspired to create yourself a happy day crafting too. Thank you for stopping by.

Valentine card - emboss resist technique

 Hi,

Today I have played with emboss resist. This is such a fun technique and the result you get is so cool.

I think this background stamp from Penny Black is so pretty and it`s perfect for this technique. I stamped and heat embossed with Lindy`s white embossing powder. For my colours I used Distress ink in Tumbled glass, Peacock feathers, maybe a tad of Salty ocean and Vintage photo. I layed down the ink going diagonal. Then I lightly went over with a baby wipe to remove any excess ink on top of the embossed pattern. If you want to give the card a more feminine feel, you can just use different colors of ink.

Next I cut down my panel to size and I also cut out a heart before I used foam tape to glue down my panel to my A2 card base. This turns the cut out heart into a kind of window, and it also gave my card some dimension and interest.

I stamped the sentiment from an old club kit from La la land and the stitched banner is also from them. I glued on some flat back pearls from Papirdesign as my finishing touch.

I love how this card turned out, this sure is a fun technique.
